Our Mission

Our mission is to inspire students to innovate and build using technology while creating a sense of community.

Join us for a 2-day hackathon this October for all secondary students.

Where: In or near Washington, DC metro area. Exact venue TBD.
Date: A weekend in late October to early November. Exact date TBD.
Time: Saturday Morning to Sunday Evening
Format: Virtual (day 1), In-person (day 2)
Theme: TBD! Submit theme suggestions here!

Have you never touched a code editor before? Or, have you deployed 4 apps on the App Store?

Doesn't matter! Secondary students of all skill levels are welcome. We promise everyone will be able to learn something new by the end of the hackathon.

Join Us

We are looking to expand our team to reach as many people as possible and increase our impact! If you are a high school student and want to help us further our mission, apply to one of our roles below.

Graphic Designer

  • Create digital artwork for our website, posters, social media posts, and more!
  • Work with our web developers and outreach team

UI Designer or Developer

  • Design our website
  • Be familiar with Figma or similar tools
  • (and/or)
  • Build our website
  • Be familiar with Next.js/React and Tailwind
  • Prefer knowledge of a UI library (shadcn/ui, HeroUI, etc.), Vercel

Outreach

  • Spread word of DCHacks in your school, neighborhood, or other community
  • Create posts for our social media accounts with our graphic designers
  • Help manage communications with participants

DCHacks isn't taking full registrations just yet, but feel free to fill out our interest form to be notified of any updates! We expect registration to start around August when more details are finalized.

Sponsors

Our hackathon depends on generous donations from companies and grants to sustain. Contributions will be used for the venue, website costs, prizes, food, and more.
